Seoul International Fireworks Festival

October 4th was the date of the Seoul International Fireworks Festival. This is festival where two companies (one Korean and one Chinese) compete to see who can create the best fireworks display. The festival is held on the Han river. This river runs down the middle of Seoul dividing it into Northern and Southern Seoul.

We got to the river about four hours before the fireworks displays began and the area was already crowded. The crowd continued to grow over the next few hours. I've never been around that many people before. It was a peaceful day with a gentle buzz of people and a sky littered with children's kites.

The highlight of the show came when a series of white spark fountains were set off underneath one of the major bridges spanning the Han river.

Here is another slideshow of our whole day. Please let me know if all of these slideshows are slowing down the page loading time and I will work around that problem.
