Choosok

I don't have a whole lot of time to write right now, so I'll expand on this later.

Choosok is a Korean holiday where family gets together to celebrate a good harvest of that year's crops. They eat several traditional foods like songpyeon, a sweet dumpling.

Gifts given during this holiday are traditionally money for younger children and food baskets for older friends and family. Our academy was nice enough to include us in their tradition and bought all of us, well.....I'll let the pictures explain.

Here is the gift case (the bag is awesome), and here is our cabinet after putting away our gift.

That is more spam than I have ever had in my entire life. In fact, I don't even think I've had a whole can's worth in my entire life. At least it's comforting to know that if we run low on cash this first month, we won't starve. So, stop worrying Mom! I know this probably seems weird to everyone back home and we thought it was funny too, but it was a really nice thing that our school did that helps make us feel more like family.

Hi Guys!
That is so funny. In College you eat Ramen when you're broke and hungry. Now you are in Korea eating Spam....I hope you guys are not broke. But at least we know you won't be hungry. LOL!
Seriously, it's good to see you guys are doing well and having fun. Keep the pictures coming!
