Korean Journalism

Korean journalism will undergo a major change as new media bills were passed recently. You've probably seen the videos of how that went down by now:

It should be a change for the better as most media outlets are owned by the government. That means that most of the news here is distributed and run by the government, making it noticeably biased. Korean journalism is still in its infancy as it was heavily censored during the 80s. This step towards privatization may be a move towards a legitimate free press. However, the companies that could be buying up all of these media assets are more than likely going to be the same ones running the government already. It should be an interesting couple of years as things begin to unfold and undoubtedly change, hopefully for the better.
